Dog Training Tips One of the reasons for doing obedience dog training is to establish a good relationship between you and your dog. Other dog owners believe that basic dog training is only for those who wish to compete in obedience trials.Training your pet requires only a simple persistence to be successful and can be useful to help fulfill some of your dog's basic and social interaction needs. Here are some dog training tips to guide you along the way. |

Common Dog Training DeviceEquipment Mistakes 1. Inappropriately Collar Size for your Dog - When the collar is placed on the dog, the part of the collar extending beyond the loop should be only 3 inches long and must not go extensively beyond the dog's neck measurement. A smaller dog requires only a small remote dog training device with a lower radio frequency while a large dog needs a big collar with high radio frequency. Inappropriate collar size may lead to unnecessary stimulation, or weak training and non response from the radio frequency stimulus. Most dog training equipment clearly indicate what size of dog the training collar is intended for. 2. Uncomfortably Over Tight Collar -.Give your dog some breathing space and avoid getting his neck hurt during dog training. The collar should not be too tight that you can still be able to fit two fingers between the neck and the collar. 3. Wrong Way of Putting the Collar - If worn on the wrong way, the collar will not release accurate corrections. If you don't understand the manual, you can always ask for the assistance of a professional for proper wearing and usage or check other dog training tips for more information. Since the standard walking position for the dog is by your left-hand side, you would take the chain collar, slip one end through the other to form a loop, then when you face the dog, the collar should look like a "P" (instead of a "q") as you slip it over the dog's head. 4. Leaving A Training Collar On A Dog - Training collars should be used only during basic dog training exercises and walking. A dog training equipment is also ideal to correct the dog when he exhibits unwanted behaviors. They shouldn't be used too frequently as your dog may tend to get used of it and so will ignore the correction on what you want them to do. For safety reasons, they should not be left on the dog. Dog Training Tips Here are some quick dog training tips to help get you started. 1. Firm and Friendly 2. Praise & Reward 3. Be Patient 4. Use the correct dog training equipment 5. No Distractions 6. Reprimand 7. Be Positive 8. Play with your dog |
